I recently bought this cake for my own 23rd (lockdown) birthday, so I didn’t have to bake my own cake – and let me say, I was impressed!

For a store-bought cake, I thoroughly enjoyed eating ‘Eric’ on the day of my birthday. It had an indulgent chocolate taste with a smooth fondant filling. My only slight critique was that the sponge was a little on the dry side – so, I popped my piece in the microwave for 10 seconds. Not only did this soften the sponge, but the chocolate frosting melted too, which acted as a sauce – delicious!

I also tried another piece of the cake with some free from whipped cream – and again, this didn’t disappoint!

In my opinion, I would rate this cake an 8/10 for the taste and texture.
